About CompTech
CompTech has been based in Blackpool since it began in 2008. Today, our team supports businesses, schools, trusts, charities and non-profits across Blackpool, Fylde, Preston and wider Lancashire with managed IT, Microsoft 365, cyber security, backup and recovery, and practical technology projects.
CompTech today
We handle day-to-day issues remotely when that is quickest and use planned onsite work when physical attendance is useful.
CompTech can act as the fully managed IT team or work alongside an internal IT person or team. Either way, IT support, Microsoft 365, cyber security, backup and projects are coordinated through the same CompTech team.

Explore Education IT supportOur story
CompTech didn’t start with a business plan.
It started years earlier with a Packard Bell computer, a screwdriver and a curiosity about how things worked.
That curiosity eventually became a business, then a team, and over time something much bigger than fixing computers.
Scroll horizontally to see all milestones.
Mark’s interest in technology began with taking apart a Packard Bell to understand what was inside, how everything connected and whether he could put it all back together again.
That curiosity never really went away.
With a laptop, a growing love of technology and a belief that IT support could be more personal, Mark started CompTech.
There wasn’t a big office or a large team behind it. Just a simple idea. Look after people properly, solve problems well and build relationships that last.
The business had started to grow beyond its original one-person setup, with more of the work being shared across a developing team.
CompTech was becoming a shared effort, building on the same idea of looking after people properly and solving problems well.
After ten years with CompTech, Marcus was appointed a director.
The appointment recognised the part he was already playing in the business, the team and the relationships built with clients over the years.
From one laptop to a growing team supporting organisations with IT, Microsoft 365, cyber security, backup, projects and practical AI governance.
The approach is still the same. Be available, explain things clearly, take responsibility and do the job properly.
What matters
Good IT support is about more than closing tickets. It’s about being available, explaining things properly, taking responsibility and caring about the outcome.
Stay curious, keep learning and look for better ways to support people.
Don’t just complete the task. Make sure the problem is actually solved.
Share knowledge, explain the options and make decisions together.
Be proactive, accountable and honest when something needs attention.
Recognition and standards
Independent checks, ongoing improvement and industry recognition help us develop our service and give clients a clearer view of the team they trust with their IT.

CompTech holds current Cyber Essentials Plus certification, which includes an independent technical audit of the security controls in our assessed environment. It helps us check our own security practices and gives clients evidence that we apply the controls we recommend, alongside practical experience to support their own preparation.

Assurix is an independent programme focused on evidence of security, operational quality and resilience in IT providers. As a Founding 50 Member, CompTech is currently On the Journey. The programme gives us a framework for improvement, supporting our aim of clearer accountability and more consistent service for clients.

The SuperOps MSP Awards 2024 recognised CompTech as MSP Vertical of the Year. This industry award recognises our work as a specialist managed service provider. It is a source of pride for our team and reinforces the value of understanding each client's sector, priorities and working environment when shaping their support.
